SDI, Bhubaneswar is on the voyage of adding value to skill eco system & touching lives of youths in the real sense. The date was 9th May 2016; with this auspicious motto Oil PSUs under the leadership Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State I/C, MOP&NG, Government of India; set up country’s 1st Skill Academy for the Hydrocarbon sector.
On the occasion of celebration of the 1stfoundation day, SDI Bhubaneswar organised a National Conclave on Skill Development initiatives in the Hydrocarbon Sector has organised on 9th May 2017 at Mayfair Conventions, Bhubaneswar.
The Foundation Day Celebration and conclave has inaugurated by Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State I/C, MOP&NG, Government of India and attended by all senior officers of our Industry, academicians, Odisha Industry, senior members from Skill Industry, Consultants, Training partners etc from various part of the country.
Broadcasting Ambitions of Youth Empowerment in Odisha on “Akshaye Tritiya”: This day last year,Oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan and chief minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation of Oil Ministry’s 1st Skill Development Institute at the capital of Odisha. This institute promoted by Oil Public Sector Units SDI, Bhubaneswar is managed by Indian Oil Corporation Limited to fulfil the dream of Skill India Mission of Shri Narendra Modi Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.
While inaugurating the Pilot site, Hon’ble Minister of State (I/C) MoP&NG, announced the plans to set up a state-of-the-art world class institute for Skill Development in Odisha. The ambitious institute will include amultitude of trades/courses required by the Industry in general and Oil & Gas sector in particular which will come up as a model structure in the country in the space of Skill Development.
Presently, SDI runs Skill Training courses to the unemployed and underprivileged youth of Odisha in a pilot campus in Manchester. This Institute is providing certificate program on Welding and Electrical – who can be employed readily on the job and have plans to launch more courses in this year. Various big organizations have already employed our students and our students have proved their merit by being excellent skilled workforce.

Today; while addressing our 1st Foundation Day; Hon’ble Minister of State (I/C) MoP&NG; Shri Dharmendra Pradhan directed the management to aim towards the early completion of SDI Bhubaneswar’s mega permanent campus at Jatni spread over 60 acres of land. With this huge infrastructure, the Institute SDI is projected to impart skill development training to over 50,000 students in 26 trades pertaining to the hydrocarbon sector and local industry needs, over a period of 10 years from inception, apart from other employment-oriented trainings beyond the Petroleum sector in line with National Skill Development Mission of Government of India. Major part of expenditure of a candidate is being sponsored SDI Bhubaneswar (promoted by Oil PSUs and managed by Indian Oil Corporation under Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas in the line with Government of India’s Skill India mission.) Hence it’s a pro-people initiative of Oil Ministry; we call the youth in un-organised sector to take these opportunities to earn livelihood.
